Krups Residence, Sydney Australia
The initial residence, crafted by renowned Sydney architect Peter Muller in 1960, set the foundation for this house. Tasked with restoring a neglected structure and adapting it for a young family, the focus was on modernizing the interiors while preserving the original charm.
The upgraded bathrooms and kitchen showcase a contemporary simplicity, surpassing the original in size. Their design seamlessly integrates with the original structure, maintaining a harmonious balance.
An innovative study addition, replacing the former carport under the main roof, introduces a predominantly glass structure. This design choice facilitates a connection with a granite wet edge pond and the harbor below. Both the pond and the timber gates to the street are meticulously crafted to blend with the landscape, creating a sanctuary that complements its surroundings and provides a sense of seclusion.
