Crate House, Modular Residence

This prototype introduces a pioneering approach to sustainable, economical living through a prefabricated modular house designed for weekend getaways in Bathurst, NSW. Born out of a necessity for an affordable dwelling that transcends traditional construction limitations, this concept envisions a structure that can be efficiently crafted off-site and assembled by the owner with minimal building experience.

At its core is a load-bearing hardwood frame—a singular structural element that not only streamlines the construction process but also aligns with green architecture principles, promoting sustainability. The modularity of the design is a key feature, allowing for a remarkable flexibility in configuration, enabling owners to tailor their space to individual needs.

This prototype not only champions an eco-conscious ethos but also emphasizes the economic advantages of prefabrication. The result is a forward-thinking dwelling that seamlessly integrates sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and design flexibility, setting a new standard for accessible and environmentally mindful architecture.
